Description

The young James Bond must uncover a conspiracy that will take him head-to-head with ruthless enemies James Bond is back at Eton. Summer vacation is on the horizon and he is looking forward to the school trip that will take him to the beautiful Italian island of Sardinia. It will also give him the opportunity to spend some time with his reclusive cousin Victor. But soon, James discovers that the seemingly peaceful island harbors strange secrets.

Victor's house is ransacked and important pieces of artwork are stolen. James learns that the Millennaria- a ruthless Roman society long thought to be extinguished- is still active. He suspects the impetuous millionaire Count Ugo Carnifex may be behind it. But one of his teachers has been acting strangely as well.

"A great read for fans of detective tales...[with] heart-pounding scenes that will keep readers turning the pages."- Kirkus Reviews

AudioFile Magazine...
Bond--James Bond--is back, in this second story of his youthful life of adventure, as depicted in the Young Bond series. As a student at Eton who has yet to embark on the formal career of espionage, Bond's adventures--and there are many--take him to Sardinia, where he gains friends and enemies. Higson doesn't skimp on the action, gripping the listener at every suspenseful turn. Nathaniel Parker's narration is nothing short of outstanding. He delivers a wide range of believable accents for the European characters: a deep-voiced Hungarian, a lispy Sardinian, a dramatic Italian painter, a sultry woman, a deep-voiced Latin teacher, and assorted British school chums. Parker's global potpourri keeps Bond's daring adventures right on track. M.B. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
